I'm looking for suggestions on how to sniff Playstation 4 network traffic, while running Wireshark on my desktop PC. This page made it sound like it would be really easy if I just ran a proxy server on my PC and connected the PS4 via the proxy server, but I couldn't get it to connect. It's possible something on my Netgear router was blocking a port, but I found it very difficult to troubleshoot.
- I use my PS4 on my PC monitor with speakers. The speakers are obviously crap. I'm running my PS4 to the monitor via LCD HDMI and I'm lucky enough my LCD monitor has a headphone jack out. I ran an audio cable from the monitor to the line in on my PC soundcard.
- Since moving to the mac I haven't gamed much besides some minecraft and cs:s and some ios games. My interest to consider getting a playstation 4 (pro) and the lg monitor is growing, turning 40 in january - i thought it might be a nice gift to myself. But the ps4 is hdmi out, and the lg is thunderbolt3 in. So, how does that work?
Another suggestion I found was putting a hub between the PS4 and the router, then sending a copy of the data to my PC. That seems like it might work, though it would require buying a hub. What's a good one that's still available? It seems like everyone's just selling switches now. Might have to go to eBay, I suppose.
A third alternative was basically hacking my own network with a man in the middle attack, but I'm not sure I'm up for that, LOL.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. It's one of those things that sounded easy at first and before I knew it I'd spent hours messing it with it with no results.
